Chief Sustainability Officer Josh Raglin named to Constellation Research ESG50 List for 2023

Norfolk Southern’s Chief Sustainability Officer Josh Raglin has been named to the Constellation ESG50 for 2023, a list of exceptional individuals “paving the way for a sustainable future.” Comprised of the most accomplished environmental, social, and governance executives, the Constellation Research ESG50 award celebrates leaders making an impact in their respective fields and on the environment.

“Josh goes above and beyond to advance sustainability as a cornerstone of our daily operations,” said Annie Adams, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer for Norfolk Southern. “As a champion for Norfolk Southern’s ESG initiatives, he continues to drive meaningful change for the company, our customers, and our planet. This distinction is a well-deserved, direct reflection of those efforts.” 

Raglin has dedicated more than 25 years in the fields of conservation, forestry, and environmental stewardship. As chief sustainability officer at Norfolk Southern, he leads efforts to transform the company’s sustainability strategy and champions initiatives that leverage sustainability for all stakeholders. These efforts include close collaboration with company-wide department leaders, along with customers, investors, regulators, and communities.

The selection process for this list included recommendations from peers, industry influencers, and analysts. Constellation’s committee also evaluated the nominee company’s ESG-related metrics reporting, analysis, and planning as well as enablement solutions supporting sustainable business practices. 

“E” solutions address carbon, water, waste management and material sourcing.
“S” solutions address diversity, equity, inclusion, labor relations and community relations.
“G” solutions examine leadership and board governance, risk, compliance, audits, internal controls, and stakeholder rights.
